Pioneer DEH-P2650

Today I woke up to the sound of people calling for volunteers to build the fence at 6am! And to make matters worse, I got a bad case of reality-dream confusion. My friend woke me up before he went to shower so I can get ready after him. And I thought I was awake but infact I was still dreaming. And I dreamt that I was talking to him when he (the real him) ask me suddenly if I was still following him. I was jolted out from my dreamworld and I sat there just wondering what happened.

Pioneer DEH-P2650. Love the display and the remote! And this player comes with the rotary volume control knob too!

I went to Wangsa Maju LRT station today to do another COD (cash on delivery). It’s a term we use when we do trading through forums. Wangsa Maju is the third last station of the Putra LRT line. But it didn’t take very long to get there from Sentral.

What’s the first thing you do when you get a player? Open it up and add new features!

This second-hand player cost me RM300 but it’s still cheaper than any headunit you can get out there with an AUX-IN. I saw a similar model without the remote going for close to RM600. So like I said, you can get good deals online.

Heart of the amplifier. Not too powerful until you can loosen bolts from your trunk but it gives decent loudness. Loud enough for your neighbour to go crazy.

This player plays CDs, FM and best of all, it has an AUX-IN. I can now connect my PDA to it and turn it into a 1gig boombox. So that was what I did this afternoon after getting my player. Pioneer does sell the AUX-IN cable but why buy when you can make one yourself for free. I’ll roughly describe how to do it here.

TADA! That’s it! Just connect your audio input (left=red, right=green, ground=copper color) and you are done! Here you can tell I removed the AUX-IN connector.

It works.

hehe I customized that title myself ;)

So no more CDs or poor radio reception to worry about ;) Continue reading

Blaupunkt Transparent Series TSx652 speakers

Happy birthday mum! Today is my mum’s birthday ;) You know, I actually forgot about it until I called her and she reminded me about it hahaha which reminds me of Fay’s birthday which was on the 19th which I didn’t forget but I didn’t know that she changed her number AGAIN so I sent the un-belated happy birthday to the wrong number. And today Darren gave me the correct number so I had to send a belated instead. Doesn’t life just kicks you around?

I just got a set of 6.5″ 2 way coaxial speakers today. And when they say you can get great bargains online, you best believe them. I did my homework and these Blaupunkt speakers are going for at least RM350++ now at other shops outside. I got these for RM250 instead from a ZTH forum member. Condition was new and the speakers were never used. Only the box was opened. I’m RM100 richer =)

Even the basket is transparent!

They didn’t name the transparent series for no reason. The speakers cones are transparent blue and you can see the inner workings of the coils. And you can see the coil moving to the beat of the music.

Passive crossover for the tweeter.

And they don’t just make it transparent for no reason. One of the reason is cosmetic. Imagine putting a blue neon light behind it =D

“TPC (Transparent Polymer Cone) takes the injected cone to new levels of stiffness for sonic accuracy, yet are lightweight for max SPL”

And of course it is not all pure cosmetic. Since the cone is not made out of paper, it’s waterproof =) haha this is so not relevant. Maybe it will withstand the elements better?

The test setup: PDA to preamp, then to amp, then to speakers. The other speaker is my friend’s Pioneer 4-way coaxial.

Upon testing, I discovered that this is indeed what I’ve been looking for. It has got great bass considering that it is just a 6.5″ speaker, and the sound quality is great. And it’s loud too! It’s even louder than the 6″x9″ that we tested side by side. So overall I’m quite satisfied with this buy =)

Moral of the story: You can find great deals online if you search hard enough. Continue reading

Flash Video Player

Since I got bigger space and higher bandwidth on this site now, I decided to host my own videos instead on relying on other free video hosting sites. This way I get better reliability and less hassle to upload my videos. I got my script from this site.

RC plane. This thing is LOUD! This was taken at INTI College Nilai on a Sunday afternoon. Continue reading

ASP week

My baby hamsters all died.

For four weeks, I will be doing hands-on at MAS. Now after 4 days, my arms are so tired that I can’t even lift them without feeling pain. Imagine sawing and filing through MILD STEEL. It’s nothing like cutting wood or aluminium. If you want to see how difficult it is, go cut your neighbour’s gate. And take that difficulty, multiply it by 10, because your neighbour’s gate is probably hollow mild steel. We’re talking about solid blocks of steel here.

This is our second project: a bottle opener. This is way smaller than our first one. I’ll get some pictures of the first one if I can.

We are given a drawing and materials and tools and we are expected to come up with the final product. The material is heavily corroded mild steel and our finished product must have a near mirror-finish surface. So there is a lot of sawing, filing and sanding to be done. It’s like KH, except we use steel instead of soft wood. I have been sawing, filing and sanding for 4 days straight, everyday averaging 6 hours of work. I hope after this 4 weeks, I’ll have enormous biceps =)

Kolo mee: something very rarely seen here in KL ;)

I have been watching LOST season 2 till episode 21. Downloading 22 now. I have to say that the story is going out of control now and it’s getting very interesting indeed. Many people have died. Okay, maybe just 3, but that’s still a lot. Season 2 introduced a new element into the LOST series: SEX. Although I cannot imagine why anyone would get turned on by someone who haven’t showered for a long time.

Let me know if your car mechanic can design such nice pipes ;)

I have also been watching older movies like Terminator 2, Short Circuit, Wild Things. Downloading Spongebob now. Having such a fast connection here means non stop downloading. My laptop has been up for 5 days, 9 hours and 19 minutes now.

40″! Can you imagine the price of the tyres alone?

This is just a very fragmented post because there’s nothing interesting much to blog about. But I have a feeling that in just a few days, it’s all going to change ;) So stay tuned! Continue reading
