Airline Manager Route Distance Database

Airline Manager is a Facebook game that allows you to build an airline and manage it. Due to the recent drastic changes of the route system by the creators of the game, players are no longer able to see the available routes and distances. This has become a big problem when players want to assign an aircraft to a route. Most of us want to maximize an aircraft's range, but not having a list of the routes and their distances means we have to go through trial and error to find the route with the distance that we want.

Airline Manager Route Distance Database

So I've come up with a solution in the form of a searchable database that lists down all routes available and their distances. Known as the Airline Manager Route Distance Database, just enter the required distance and it will show you all available routes that are within that distance. With the names of the routes give, you can then make an informed decision on which route you want to take. Note however that the distances may vary slightly with the game's.

If you're playing Airline Manager on Facebook, this may just save you some time when assigning new routes for your planes.

Hey mate, just thought I let you know, your data base you designed is fantastic and I appreciate the usage as I am new to AM.....it may be because of the changes from AM however I thought I would let you know the following if no one else has in case the database needs updating or whether the differences are not a major issue anyway....Cheers RIchard

Richard: thanks for pointing that out. Unfortunately, because we both use different methods and coordinates for measuring the distance, I won't have the exact distance for the particular route. The distances are around plus minus 100km. Use them as a reference only :)

May I suggest you add a search filter for a specific city :)
Would be helpful too see all available routes from one city given a certain distance.

I am also fairly familiar with PHP/MySQL/HTML and CSS.

akshit: the demand fluctuates too much that's why I didn't consider adding it. Furthermore, people will flock to the higher demand flights, causing the demand to plummet. It's better to leave it unknown :)

Would be nice if to that list of results you also added the airport costs although I am not sure if that is actually used.

When you try to establish a route it shows some outrageous prices for aiport tax but when you actually select a route for an a/c the airport tax seems to be calculated as the quantify of fuel consumed ($1/pound)

It's not quite right for most of the cities of more than 10,000km from Panama City. e.g. Beijing - Panama City is 11936km (in google map), but the database is 14307km. Thanks!

There are a lot of ajax/javascript/php-asp scripts that does auto-complete with very simple implementations. You should really look into this.

some of the distance which are updated here are not equal as that of the game like seoul - Rio Grande shown here is 19,415 km but in the game its just 18344. This is just one f the examples there are many more of such stores stored in my excel sheet i made to play the game which haD THE discrepancies.

Mike: thanks, I try to get the distances as close as possible but due to the differences in the coordinates we (me and the am developers) use for the airports, slight differences will occur. Something that we all have to live with :)

I can't tell you how valuable your database is and how much time it saves!!

One error: The database states that JFK-CKG (New York - Chongqing) is 12191 km. The game has is as 12227 km, 27 km too long for the 767-200ER. At least now I know my next 777 route!

Hey TZY, Great database, HUGE help! Just a minor discrepency. Your database shows SFO to Nassau as 4442 NM. AM has it as 4454. Not a huge difference, but to my ERJ-190 it's a go/no-go difference.

The very kind developers of AM have given me the coordinates of their airports in the game so now I have updated the database with those coordinates. So now the distances should be within 5km of the distances in the game.

Because this is a new database, there may be some errors so please let me know here so I can fix them. Thanks!

OK Don't know if this is even possible but..............

What I would love is a tool along the lines of a map distance chart where you have the same cities listed as the x and y axis with the associated distances for the data points. BUT I want to be able to configure it based on my chosen continent, country and hub.

For example, if my hub is orlando and I wanted to see all airports in the USA I would select continent: north america, country: USA, HUB orlando, and have all cities listed that match those criteria in a chart format.

Then I would click on the given distance between 2 cities and it would bring up a list of all aircraft capable of flying that route, with their associated data that I could filter based on multple criteria like fuel usage, passengers and range.

Then it would be childs play to go to AM and buy my craft and assign my route and in theory maximize my profit.

But is it even possible.

Hi. Impressive program. My friend got me addicted to this game on Facebook and, after we both noticed how hard it was to find a good route, I proposed that I would build a program like this. As I was building mine in Java, I googled it and saw yours, but decided to finish mine anyway. My program is actually finished, and works perfectly, except for the fact that I lack data on most of the cities in the game.

My program was created for my friend, my wife, and myself, all of whom are addicts, not general distribution, so it doesn't compete in any way with yours.

At the top of your program, I notice you thank the AM developers for sharing their airport data. I was hoping that you would be likewise willing to share airport data with me. I can look up the data for all the airports, but I've noticed discrepancies, and so I'd like to work with the same data that the game does for the sake of accuracy.

My program does not store tables of pre-calculated distances, but instead stores the GPS data for the airports and then calculates distances as necessary. I'm unclear as to whether your program or Airline Manager operates the same way.

Hi guys, sorry for the lack of updates, have been away from the computer for a while. I will try to implement the features phase by phase after I've decided on the design of the program.

Don: sure, I'll share the coordinates with you. Will email you the latest coordinates by tomorrow ;)

Mario: unfortunately, automatic updates cannot be done since I'm relying on AM's developers for the coordinates which they will email to me

Leo: unfortunately I can't do that either because it's always changing and I don't have data for it.

Mario, I could show you what I have right now, but it doesn't actually do anything at the moment, since what it's designed to do is sort through mass amounts of data, but I don't have any data for it. :)

Besides, since it was created for my personal use, I haven't bothered to program a user interface for it, so it runs off the command prompt and is purely text-based using command line arguments, which can be pretty confusing for a lot of people.

What's wrong with Tzywen's anyway? My program is the exact same thing (well, except for a few personal touches).

Tzywen, happy to hear you'll share your coordinates. Really wasn't looking forward to researching coords for 600 something cities, which may or may not be the coords used by the app.

@Roberto, That was called B.E.R. - Beyond Economic Repair. In your case it's E. B.E.R - extremely B.E.R.... :)
In reality, most aircraf defects are repaired by replacing the defective part to the lowest LRU-line replaceable unit. These LRU's are then sent for repair which will be given a quote for you to approve. The quote usually provides options such as repair, send back w/o repair, or scrap.
You should have bought a new one if you were given that option. I hope A.M. find a way to give us that option or charge us repairs in percent of the aircraft price to avoid this problem. Its just a suggestion though, in my case, I invest and buy the expensive ones.
@ Tzywen, Great Job in this database! Too bad IM HOOKED TO THIS GAME...
:P. Im such a addict to the point that I will set my phone to alarm so I would log in again and send my planes flying even at night... hehehe...
Hope you update the database to include the new destinations.

the routes which I found from this site are looking 0 km and 0 $ at airline manager.
such as;
Malaga Auckland the site states that it is 19951 km but when I create that route for my A380s. Airline manager says 0 km and ticket price 0 $.
